So what are your thoughts on the US (LHS - complete with "If You liked The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, you'll love this!" sticker)) and UK (RHS) covers? Which would entice you to pick the book up if you were not familiar with this title?
If you have read it, how well do the covers match the story?

Karen - I like the UK cover much better, and not just because it doesn't have "that sticker" on it. It's more understated and that makes it more intriguing, at least to me.
I like a photograph on the cover that conveys the 'feel' of a books content. The 'this is like that' sticker is OK but I always ask the bookshop to remove it, if possible, when I pay. In this example the UK version does it for me.
I prefer the UK version, too. The US version's design is just so derivative of the Stieg Larsson (US) covers - though this isn't the first time that design has been copied. Of course, there is no obvious connection between Thompson's and Larsson's books --- goes without saying ;-)
I'll be contrarian. I find the US (no sticker pls!) more striking. I don't really see the design connection to the Millennium books others noted unless you count the dominant use of one color.
The UK does a good job of conveying the tonal expectations, but I feel like I've seen that sort of snowy stock photo done plenty of times.
I like the US covers. They fit the books better than a rather bland and generic car-in-snow shot. A little mystery, a little different..
I prefer the US cover. I don't see the connection in Larsson covers. I am turned off when I see the stickers especially when I didn't enjoy the book(s)
I like the British cover for design and mood, and no sticker.
This book is nothing like the Stieg Larsson trilogy, except it takes place in a Scandinavian country.
And it wasn't a particularly good read, and I liked the Millennium trilogy.
I have to go with the US one this time. The first thing that popped into my head when I saw it was 'Archangel' by Robert Harris, and so I was immeditely drawn to it.
