It seems you can set your calendar by the swifts. For the third year in a row, my first sighting of them has been on 10 May. No sign of them on Sunday or Monday but first thing this morning on my cycle to the station, 3 of the beauties racing about.
Last year I posted on the day that the swifts had returned to where I live. Last Monday, the 10th, I spotted my first swift of this year and thought I must see how the date compares to last year. I've been forgetting to look and seeing a group of them this morning has reminded me. Very spookily, I saw them for the first time in 2009 and 2010 on 10 May...
As is traditional in our household, Sundays mean new reviews on the website and a 2 mile walk to the nearest Costas. Today it was followed by a visit to see the new Star Trek film, followed by a vegetable balti.
