Last year I
posted on the day that the swifts had returned to where I live. Last Monday, the 10th, I spotted my first swift of this year and thought I must see how the date compares to last year. I've been forgetting to look and seeing a group of them this morning has reminded me. Very spookily, I saw them for the first time in 2009
and 2010 on
10 May...
Lovely 'photo, Karen! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNot my photo alas, but maybe next year when I've invested in a decent camera :).
ReplyDeleteWow, that is spooky. Now what are the birds nesting under our eaves at the front of our house? Starlings, I think. Every day we find metre-long twigs on the step and immediately in front of the front door, when we come in from work. These tiny-ish birds collect these great long twigs and try to get them into their nest-area (I presume) but don't succeed so the twig falls to the ground. There are literally tens of these a day. I am amazed how they can still fly and carry them in their beaks - or even where they find them all!
