Delay in the weekend's reviews

This weekend's reviews will probably be delayed or postponed. It depends how I feel in a couple of days. My beloved cat, Cadgy, has died today after a short illness aged 15 and a half. The photo doesn't show how beautiful she was, like a little bear and the loudest purr imaginable for such a small cat. Fortunately she's not suffering now and I hope she didn't suffer whilst she was ill.

Karen, I'm sure your intuition and ability to care meant that she did not suffer in life.

It is so sad to lose a pet. "Pet" even seems a badge of disrespect sometimes, where our "pets" are so much part of our families; if only those who threw out the term with abandon could come to grips with the reality of that furry creature as a stalwart part of the family.

I'm sorry to hear of Cadgy's death and you have my sympathies.

Take your time, Karen. It all takes time, for someone you love - homo sapiens or furry creature. The FCs can sometimes leave the HSs wanting, such is their ability for unconditional love (ongoing provision of food aside).

But you have to have that FC to know what life with the FC entails.

Cadgy will be an immense loss right now and you have my sympathies.

  2. I was so sorry to hear about Cadgy's death.
I don't think people who haven't had a beautiful pet can understand the feeling of loss when they die. Our children aged 30, 24, and 22 still talk about the death of our beautiful King Charles spaniel Lucy fifteen years ago.
I sometimes think that Lucy understood me better than the human inhabitants of the house.
You have my sympathy for your loss.

  3. I send my deepest sympathies. I know just how you are feeling, its just a question of time now to help you heal. Cling to the happy memories and you'll never have her far away.

  6. Thank you all for the empatheric words, it means a lot to me. I felt less alone in my grief. I am lucky to have had 15 years of her company. We also have a 16 year old, two 10 year olds and a 9 monther to cuddle, which also helps.
