Last night's Front Row programme on Radio 4 contained an interview with Donna Leon amongst other entertainments matters.
Listen to the whole programme here for the next 6 days (you get the end of The Archers as well).
(Donna Leon is an American author who lives in Venice and writes the Commissario Brunetti series set there. There is a website here.)
That was a very interesting interview, and I was surprised that Donna Leon did not want her books published in Italian. They are far less critical of Italy than Carlotto, Lucarelli or Camilleri. She considers herself a guest and does not want insult her hosts.
ReplyDeleteI knew she didn't want them published in Italy but didn't know why. btw Donna Leon's going to be at Waterstones Picadilly on the 17th at 7pm.
