Holiday book choices...

The day before the holiday has dawned and the final decisions over which books to take have been reached. The idea is that we pick books the other will want to read as the space and weight restrictions inherent in a cycling-camping holiday mean we can only fit in two books. I've chosen 'Murder at the Old Vicarage' (cue much rolling of eyes from partner) aka 'Redemption' by Jill McGown. This is the second (of thirteen) in the cosy-police procedural Lloyd and Hill series, set around a fictionalised Corby. This is off my tbr pile and is also yahoo group 4MA's series read for September.

I usually shy away from taking library books on holiday since we had to pay for a hardback copy of 'Dune' which ironically ended up in the Pacific Ocean along with things like passports when a rogue wave struck, but the second book we're taking is a brand new library paperback of 'Grey Souls' by Philippe Claudel. The short description on amazon is: "A literary detective story about the murder of a young girl in a small town in Northern France in 1917."
