Firstly, it's a sequel to another book which I don't always mind, but every other page seemed to be about a previous book featuring Ray McBain and friends, who so-and-so was, what he/she did, etc, until it made me feel that I was being force fed! I really lost interest in great chunks of past action being whacked down and slowing the pace. If I need to know that much in a book, forget it! I felt like I was having to read two books at once. Secondly, halfway through we have a man of 21 or so who is a trained counsellor, which is incredibly young, worked with the Samaritans etc. Highly unlikely, but he was a terrible online counsellor, with no skills, had no boundaries, divulging lots of personal details about himself to a client, which is a no-no, then agreeing to a face-to-face meeting. Come on! Thirdly, I am really tired of flawed coppers with failed marriages who are really sensitive. Boring. Change the record. For those reasons, I stopped reading.
